When I first read the literal translation of ‘Los mal casados de Valencia’, I couldn’t believe that over 400 years ago the conversations about marriage and fidelity were so – well – modern. In the end of that play the marriages were so bad, they were dissolved by the police! And it was still a comedy. I knew that was the play I wanted to adapt. – Laurel
