Many people know the history of the space race and the Mercury Seven. But few have heard the ill-fated story of Jerrie Cobb and the Mercury 13: a group of women who underwent the same rigorous psychological and physical astronaut training as their male counterparts but were ultimately denied entry into the space program based on their sex.
