As he prepares to enter the 50th and final season as founding artistic director at Palo Alto’s TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, Robert Kelley was at the Tony Awards in New York Sunday to accept one of the highest honors a regional theater-maker can receive.

 

Accepting the Regional Theatre Tony Award on behalf of the company he founded and has run since shortly after graduating from Stanford University in 1970, Kelley thanked “generations of collaborators who have grown TheatreWorks for 50 years” and “the thousands of theater-makers who found an artistic home with us.” Company executive director Phil Santora was on hand to accept the award with Kelley.

I am so honored to participate in Robert Kelley’s last season at TheatreWorks in April 2020 with their production of They Promised Her the Moon.
