Opening Night of THEY PROMISED HER THE MOON at the Old Globe in San Diego – Tonight!
It really is almost impossible to describe what an amazingly rich, creative. fun, exhausting glorious experience this process has been – but those are some of the words that come to mind.
Every incarnation of this play has led to this beautiful production. Every cast and director and friend who read my early drafts around my living room with a glass of wine.
I’m talking to you – Bernadette Sullivan and Johanna McKay!
And then the fabulous early student production at the University of Oklahoma directed by Judith Midyett Pender and dramaturg Alicia Kae Koger to every wonderful reading and workshop and fantastic Off Broadway production by The Miranda Theatre Company directed by Valentina Fratti and produced by Anne Berlin. To all the drafts and late night conversations and emails with Valentina Fratti about the script. Every one of those cast members – in how many readings in Los Angeles and New York.
And finally to the Old Globe New works – Danielle Mages Amato and Eric Keen-Louie – and Theatre Works Silicon Valley both directed by the incredible Giovanna Sardelli.
With this unbelievable cast – Mary Beth Fisher, Morgan Hallett, Lanna Joffrey, Matthew Boston, Michael Pemberton and Peter Rini. They are absolutely glorious!!
And the design team from heaven – that happens to be all fabulous women!Jane Shaw, Cat Tate Starmer, Jo Winiarski, Denitsa Bliznakova!
I’ve never had so much fun and been so exhausted and been so creatively fulfilled all at once. Ahhhhh.
Now we fly to the moon.
